Top 10 Mild Rides at the Orlando Attractions

1. It’s a Small World (Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom)—The granddaddy of the mild rides, this perennial musical favorite enchants the little ones as well as the parents and grandparents who have fond memories of this Magic Kingdom classic.

2. Pirates of the Caribbean (Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom)—Another Magic Kingdom staple that has been updated over the years, riders can play “Where’s Johnny” as they keep an eye out for an animatronic Johnny Depp reprising his role as Captain Jack from the wildly successful “Pirates” movies.

3. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom)—This colorful, dreamy—and popular—ride puts visitors in the middle of Pooh’s very busy day. Since very young children have a hard time waiting in line, head off a possible meltdown ahead of time by getting a FASTPASS.

4. Peter Pan’s Flight (Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom)—Relive highlights from the Peter Pan animated feature as you soar through the skies of London with Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy and her siblings. Adding to the adventure, the villainous Captain Hook makes an appearance as well.

5. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin (Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom)—This ride is so much fun that most adults will forget this ride is geared towards little kids. Go on a daring space mission to save the toy universe from the sinister Emperor Zurg, while firing your personal laser cannon to score points aboard your Star Cruise.

6. Ellen’s Energy Adventure (Walt Disney World’s Epcot)—Comedian Ellen DeGeneres hosts an entertaining look at the world’s energy sources with a little help from Bill Nye the Science Guy. The entire presentation is 45 minutes long, but moves fast enough that you won’t be checking your watch.

7. The Seas with Nemo and Friends (Walt Disney World’s Epcot)—As the voice of Dory the blue tang fish, Ellen Degeneres is a part of this attraction as well, which empties out into a pavilion filled with native Floridian manatees, fascinating sea creatures and a mini play area.

8. Journey Into Imagination with Figment (Walt Disney World’s Epcot)—Accompanied by an animated dragon known as Figment, former Monty Python troupe member Eric Idle portrays Dr. Nigel Channing, who hosts this ride based on the five senses. Even though you won’t hear “The Lumberjack Song” or any other Python tunes, there is plenty of catchy music for a sing-a-long.

9. The Cat in the Hat (Universal’s Islands of Adventure)—Universal’s rides tend to be geared towards older kids and adults, but Seuss Landing gives the younger set a chance to run free. The Cat In The Hat enables visitors to ride a couch through the pages of the famous children's book.

10. Shamu Express (SeaWorld)—You won’t be able to bring a baby on board, but the 38″ minimum height requirement enables most kids to take their first roller coaster ride before they’re old enough to attend kindergarten. With a top speed of about 15 mph, this is about as mild as a coaster gets at Orlando’s theme parks.
