Based on good reviews, my family and I decided to try Pepe’s Cantina for Mexican food. It had a festive atmosphere and a great location, plus delicious food. Hungry for Mexican food? See how we rated Pepe’s Cantina!
Location – Pepe’s Cantina has a great location in an easy-to-find shopping center on International Drive. We actually decided to visit this place, as I checked out the reviews. The reviews were good.
Atmosphere – We were very pleased to see how clean it was inside. With colorful Mexican decorations, the atmosphere was definitely fun.
Food – We tried the beef tacos, vegan tacos, and rice and beans. On a scale of 1-10, I give the quality of this food a solid 8. For drinks, we tried icy cold Modelo Especial which was a refreshing choice that complemented our food. We also tried the specialty margarita, Jarritas, made with fresh-squeezed lime juice, agave nectar, and tequila with an upside down jarrito. For dessert, we had the tres leches and churros, both fantastic choices that were downright delicious.
Wait Time – Unfortunately, this was a huge downside to our visit. I think we choose a bad day and time. Jen was the only person there working hard to serve as both a host and server. She did a great job and tried her best to keep all guests happy. As we were leaving, a second staff member finally arrived.
Service – Jen was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She made great suggestions and was very attentive despite being the only person there to serve everyone in the restaurant.
Specialty – Pepe’s Cantina is famous for their Hawaiian Fajitas, served with grilled pineapple and melted cheese. They also have a famous, made-from-scratch hot sauce, which I really enjoyed. It’s also available for purchase so I bought a Pepe’s Hot Sauce.
Price – It was moderately priced.
Would Return – Not sure! Much as we enjoyed our meal and our server, the price and the lack of staff available was a huge downside.
